The Value Change Initiative is pleased to open a public consultation for the Draft Output of the Apparel & Footwear Working Group IV, titled: “Navigating climate reporting and claims for value chain decarbonization: Insights from manufacturing and the apparel sector.” 

How to provide feedback 

The public consultation is open until January 4^th 2026.  We encourage all interested stakeholders to submit comments within this period to ensure they can be considered in the final publication.

About the publication 

This year’s output explores the landscape of climate reporting and claims for value chain decarbonization, drawing on insights from manufacturing and the apparel sector. It examines: 

• – The framing of environmental and climate claims 
• – The definition and implementation of abatement within the value chain, including traceability and activity pools 
• – The grey zone between value chain and beyond value chain mitigation, and the use of market-based instruments 
• – The final step toward net zero: neutralization strategies
